Rape as a Primary Weapon of Genocide

Abstract

This paper addresses the effects and impact of rape when used as a weapon in the current genocide occurring in Darfur, Sudan. The use of rape as a tool of genocide is examined with the perspective that it is not simply a cruel and vicious act, but one that is purposefully used to target the entire community. Rape is a weapon with massive psychological and physical repercussions beyond what is immediately apparent.
